Ensemble Liverpool

Ensemble Liverpool performs small-scale 'chamber' classical concerts and recitals, sometimes in unexpected places, with introductory talks where these are required.
Most of the instrumentalists are members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Our repertoire, usually for between two and six players, includes composers as diverse as Barber, Amy Beach, the Beatles, Beethoven, Brahms, Cole Porter, Coleridge-Taylor, Debussy, Dvorak, Elgar, Ellington, Ethel Smyth, Haydn, Hurlstone, Korngold, Mozart, Piazzolla, Ravel, Scott Joplin, Schubert, Shostakovitch, Stanford, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi and many others.

Live-A-Music

Live-A-Music (Liverpool) is an independent group of highly qualified and experienced musicians who offer one-off educational and community workshops and concerts, short 'residencies' in schools (all ages), and longer bespoke collaborations.
The group was first brought together in 1993 and also works with charitable organisations such as HOPES: The Hope Street Association.
Comprised largely of players from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Live-A-Music has performed in a very wide variety of venues and for diverse audiences, sometimes working alongside amateur and young performers.

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875 - 1912) is Britain's foremost black classical music composer. A child with very modest beginnings in Croydon, near London, he nonetheless became a protege of Sir Charles Villiers Stanford at the then newly established Royal College of Music, and later the composer of hugely popular works such as Hiawatha's Wedding Feast. But behind the public face was a decent and modest man who campaigned for equal rights and also wrote chamber music of great sensitivity and charm.
