URBAN PICNIC –Sunday 17th June 2007

Hope Street, Liverpool 1 – 12:30 till 16.00

Urban Picnic - In collaboration with the Everyman Bistro, The Lion and Landlife, we’ve organised an event addressing the question - ‘Can we grow food within walking distance?

A Midsummer celebration of local food production and consumption……this will be the first time the Everyman Bistro has opened on a Sunday!

The event is planned to coincide with the famous ‘Hope Street Farmer’s Market’ so stroll down Hope Street after buying some local food and tell us what you think about it!

Share your ideas with local producers, farmers, the stall holders, chefs, the City Council, Geraud and growing enthusiasts - the event will be a true celebration of all things food, with beer-tasting from Wapping brewery, strawberry teas and music.

Organise Ourselves For Action
• We’ve globalised it – now let’s localise and enjoy it
• How can we grow food within walking distance?
• How can we make more imaginative use of our space?’

Urban Picnics is a project created with the aim of looking at underused or derelict land and how we can turn it into friendly spaces to create a healthier city. Our picnics take place in mystery locations that show you places and journeys you never knew existed or let you see familiar places in a new perspective…

Urban picnics are a part of ‘Pool.
See www.poolproject.co.uk for further details.

We invite you to ‘Give up computers and TV, rise from the desk, hokey cokey all around town. In out, in out, shake up the city’s past, explore the future, turn around to discover your Liverpool…’
